Meditation has been talked about and researched for years. We see articles about its positive effects to reduce anxiety, depression, improve our memory, help regulate our blood pressure, improve sleep and so much more. Yet, most people I talk to say " I can't meditate because I can stop thinking or I can't sit crossed legged, or they feel they just can't sit still very long or I just don't have the time.
I am here to tell you that anyone and everyone can meditate! Having been a meditator for over 40 years and a Meditation teacher for 20 years, I have seen all of these people learn the meditation that works for them. They have created a meditation practice that works in their life, and have been able to deeply heal and feel the joy that life is.
There are many styles of meditation, some you just breathe, or perhaps have a special word or mantra, and there are some that involve visualization and you can lie in your bed with a pillow and blanket. Believe me there is a meditation practice out there for you.
In this meditation workshop we will learn what meditation is and where it came from. We will talk about the obstacles that many think are keeping them from meditating. We will then do many styles of meditation taking some time with each one so that you can discover what resonates for you. We will talk about creating a sacred space to meditate in and some logistics; how long to meditate, how often, what time of day ect.
We are all on a "path" and we get to choose how we move and feel on that path of life. Meditation is a personal practice, one that begins to create in you a deep connection to yourself, your family & friends, the world around you and your connection to your higher power.
